Metal Parts
Throughout my career, I have designed metal parts to fit with plastic housings or as standalone items like trolleys. In many industries that use OEM supplied modules (pumps & solenoids etc,), it is often advantageous to design a universal mounting point within the plastic molding to accept an interface metal bracket. The bracket will be designed to hold the OEM module and, where possible, be used for secondary purposes, such as routing looms. I have collaborated with suppliers to choose the best materials and finishes to ensure the perfect design for the environment.
I have worked with sheet metal, casting, turning/milling, and sintering, and I understand that each process requires its own design nuances to work with the technology. By utilizing the specialized features within 3D CAD systems, parts are designed as if they were normal components but contain critical information required by the manufacturing process. This approach reduces risk and improves speed to market.
